Bryan and Elaine Norris own and breed English Mastiffs under the Hexnorden affix. Over the years all their Mastiffs have achieved varying levels of KC Good Citizen.
Elaine shows (both domestically and internationally) and judges Mastiffs along with two other breeds. She serves on the committee of the Mastiff Association and is also their Health Representative where most recently she has successfully implemented a Health Award Scheme, which has now been taken up by both breed clubs. She has also been involved with fostering Mastiffs, assessing Mastiffs for rehoming and undertaking home checks. She has been involved with Discover Dogs for the last 12 years and for the last 10 have been the co-ordinator for the Mastiff stand at Earls Court. Her most recent involvement with canine activities was taking part in ‘Jillys Jolly Jaunt’, hopefully proving that High Profile Breeds can also be fit for function. Elaine has been involved with TW&DCS for the last 13 years in varying roles, most significantly as a Vice Chairman and Show Secretary, a role she held for 8 years. After nearly 2 years of research our journey with mastiffs started with Hector, the most loving gentle giant and we haven't looked back since! Our foundation bitch Angel came 2 years later after we realised there was no other breed like mastiffs and we were hooked! Angel went on to be top mastiff bitch in the country and to give us our first litter. After a break from breeding came a trip to America looking for new blood lines to bring in to the UK and use on our girl Bubble. We went for a boy from Australia our lovely Muddy and it is these two that have given us our latest beautiful litters. As a health rep it goes without saying that our mastiffs health is important to us and we have tested all our mastiffs even those not in our breeding program. We are very pleased with our consistantley good hip and elbow results as well as these we test eyes, hearts and for cystinurea. Our aim being that we can breed mastiffs that are healthy and fit for function without losing the type and temprement that we mastiff fanciers all fell in love with. |
